#DominiqueJackson (March 20, 1975 – ): Known in the #BallroomScene as #TyraAllureRoss, Jackson is a Tobagonian-American actress, author, and model. She is best known around the world for her role as #ElectraAbundance on the FX series #Pose, a role she stated that she knew she had to have when she heard about the television series. Growing up in Trinidad and Tobago, Dominique grew up for many years being raised by her grandmother with heavy influences in the Anglican Church (she was trained to become an acolyte). As a teenager, she was sexually abused by a member of the church and bullied tremendously for her identity. For this, she fled Tobago and moved to the United States when she was 18, following a voice within her that said “run.” Not accepted by her mother (who moved to the United States when Dominique was a young teenager), she became homeless and turned to sex work for survival. In 1993, trying to make things work in Baltimore, she was introduced to the ballroom scene and her life was forever changed. She became affiliated and lived with many “houses” (groups of chosen family who perform and model in the ballroom scene) before settling in #NewYorkCity with the #HouseOfSinclair. From there she began modeling (for free at times) and was featured in #VogueEspana. She then became involved in documentaries about LGBTQIA people of Caribbean descent as well as in the reality television show #Strut before landing her role on Pose. In 2014 she released her autobiography (a 13-year project) #TheTranssexualFromTobago and since then has worked for various nonprofit organizations like #DestinationTomorrow, which provides outreach and support services for the LGBTQIA community.#PrideMonth #LGBTQIA #LGBTQIAPride #Pride🌈 #LegendsOfPride #YouCannotEraseUs
