Li Yinhe

#LiYinhe (February 4, 1952 – ): Born in #Beijing, Li was raised by parents who imbued in their children a sense of critical thinking and gender equality, even going so far as to adopt a matrilineal surname. A sociologist and sexologist in the #PeoplesRepublicOfChina, Li Yinhe is a fierce advocate and activist for #LGBTQIA rights. Her academic speciality is human sexuality, sexual norms in China, women’s studies, and the multitude of forms of sexual practices, including sadomasochism. Within China, she has campaigned for the abolition of outdated laws concerning sexual practices (specifically laws against pornography, group sex, and sex work). She has also been a fierce supporter of same-sex marriage, and though she worked to get a proposal submitted to the #NationalPeoplesCongress in China she found it hard to have enough people sign their names to the document for fear of punishment from the Chinese authorities. She continues this work despite the bigotry and believes that the country is going through its own sexual revolution. Since 2000, Li has continued to ask Chinese politicians to submit her proposal calling for same-sex marriage to be legalized in China. #PrideMonth#LGBTQIA#LGBTQIAPride#Pride🌈#LegendsOfPride#YouCannotEraseUs
