#KimberlyDrew: The former social media manager for the #MetropolitanMuseumOfArt, she is currently an art curator and writer, going by the social media handle #MuseumMammy. Starting a Tumblr account while still in college called #BlackContemporaryArt, she aimed to highlight the work of black artists that was shown in major museums but lacked a presence on social media with the goal of making it a “part of recorded history.” It was for this work that she began calling herself, “a curator of black art and experiences,” and it was for this work that she gained the attention of the Met, the museum that eventually hired her. She has worked with many in the black art world in creating panels, consortiums, and art critiques that highlight the work of contemporary black artists. Recently, she has said that there must be a link between activism and art, especially in highlighting the lives of Black Americans killed by the police. She resides in Brooklyn and last year released her first book, #ThisIsWhatIKnowAboutArt. #PrideMonth #LGBTQIA #LGBTQIAPride #Pride #LegendsOfPride #YouCannotEraseUs
