Lily Gladstone

(August 2nd, 1986 – ): Of #PieganBlackfeet, #NezPerce, and European heritage, #LilyGladstone made waves and received multiple awards for her portrayal of #MollieKyle in #KillersOfTheFlowerMoon, becoming the first Indigenous woman to be nominated for and win an acting Golden Globe as well as the fourth Indigenous woman to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress.

Raised on the Blackfeet Reservation in Montana, she has worked as an actress for far longer than her recent catapult into stardom. Acting throughout childhood in regional theatre and then receiving her BFA in Acting and Directing (with a Native American studies minor) from the University of Montana, she also became involved in the #TheatreOfTheOppressed which aims to use theatre to promote social and political change. With her breadth of work in film and on stage, she uses her platform to promote the rights of and shine a light on the issues faced by the Indigenous.

In 2023, she came out as “middle-gendered,” stating that in “most Indigenous languages…there are no gendered pronouns. There is no he/she, there’s only they…my pronoun use is partly a way of decolonizing gender for myself.” She uses “she” and “they” pronouns and identifies as part of the LGBTQ community.
